Cheryl Bondy, Clerk for the Town of Essex provides the statutory duties of the municipal clerk in accordance with the Ontario Municipal Act, as well as performing duties under the Drainage Act. This includes the recording of all resolutions, decisions and other proceedings of Council and ensures that actions taken by Council are communicated. In addition this department maintains the safekeeping of all official records of the municipality.
The Office of the Clerk also plays an important role in organizing the municipal election every three years, compiling voter’s lists and ensures that proper procedures are followed by Candidates and election staff.

Agendas Council meets the 1st & 3rd Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 33 Talbot Street South, Essex. Holiday Monday meetings will be on Tuesday. Call for summer schedule. To be placed on the Agenda please contact the Clerk by Wednesday prior to the meeting. Council agendas are posted the Friday afternoon prior to the Council meeting. Agendas are available in pdf format and require Adobe Acrobat Reader to be installed. This software is free and available from the Adobe Website. |

Contact the Clerk’s Office at 519.776.7336 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday to arrange a mutually convenient time for signing your documents. |

Freedom of Information The Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act provides the right of access to records held by the municipality and requires that an individual’s personal information is protected. The rules set out by this Act governs the creation, collection, use and disposition of all corporate records, regardless of medium (i.e. electronic, paper, video, etc.) Persons wishing to access any records held by the Town of Essex should first contact the department which holds the records and if access is denied through normal channels, a formal written request under the Act can be filed. The Town of Essex endeavours to provide as much information as possible without the necessity of submitting a formal request under the Act. For more information contact the Clerk. Municipal Elections In accordance with the Municipal Elections Act 1996, as amended, the next Municipal Election will be held on October 25, 2010. The Town’s Clerks Department conducts the election including compiling and finalizing the voters’ list, providing public notification of the election process, establishing voting locations, recruiting and training election officials and tabulating and publishing election results. |
