The primary function of the Essex Fire Department is to provide a range of programs to Protect the lives and property of the inhabitants in this community from the adverse effects of fire, sudden medical emergencies or exposure to dangerous conditions created by man or nature.

The municipal government has established bylaws to provide the service to the people of this community and the Fire Department has dedicated its services to provide it in the most efficient and safe manner.

Permits are free – unnecessary fire calls are not!
Open air Fires are prohibited, except by PERMIT. An open air fire is a controlled burn or backyard bonfire.
When planning an open-air fire, contact the Fire Department at 776-6476 ext.10
Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:00pm.
