The Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (“Essex County OPP”) are committed to providing municipal policing excellence to the residents of the Towns of Essex, Tecumseh, Lakeshore, and Kingsville.

In addition, the Essex County OPP provides policing services on provincial highways, waterways surrounding Essex County and Pelee Island.

Rounding outtheir duties istheir support to other municipalities in Essex County to provide specialized and provincial functions through "Policing Services Agreements" as required.Support includesassistance in homicide investigations, canine services, TRU/ERT/Negotiator Response, etc.

The commitments outlined in the 2009 Business Plan  shapethe Essex County OPP'sdirection in howthey intend to make OPP-policed jurisdictions in Essex County "safer communities". For 2009, the OPP in Essex County will continue to deliver policing services with professionalism, investigative excellence and compassion.

The foundation of OPP policing in Essex County has always beenfounded on itsrelationships with the communitiesit polices. The OPP will continue to develop this relationship through effective "Community Policing" programs such as Police Cyclist Program, B-R.A.D. (Bullying, Relationships, Alcohol and Drugs), Cop Camp, Cops for Charity, Project Lifesaver andits own OPP Athletic League.
