Town Council Members
Richard Meloche, DEPUTY-MAYOR Richard Meloche, returned to office in 2006 for his second consecutive term. Richard has been appointed Deputy Mayor by his Councillor peers and as such will represent the residents of Essex on County Council. Mr. Meloche has a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting & Finance from the University of Windsor and currently working in the planning department of Hiram Walker & Sons Ltd in Windsor. Mr. Meloche volunteers his time with the Co-An Park in McGregor, the McGregor Music Festival which raises money for the Windsor-Essex Regional Cancer Centre, and is a member of the Knights of Columbus branch #2844. As a recreation enthusiast, Mr. Meloche has served on the executive and coached in many local sports leagues, including hockey, soccer and baseball. In this term of Council as Deputy Mayor Mr. Meloche will represent the Town of Essex on County Council as well as various committees and boards, including Finance, Roads Committee, Personnel Committee, Communities in Bloom, Co-An Park Board, Landfill Liaison Committee, and many others. Mr. Meloche and his wife Cathy have 2 sons & 1 daughter.

Morley Bowman, Councillor, Ward 1 Morley Bowman is no stranger to Municipal politics, having served as Councillor, Ward 1 for 20 years and served on County Council for 6 years. Mr. Bowman is a retired Service Representative for Pitney Bowes of Canada and has an educational background in Business Management from St. Clair College. Mr. Bowman has been actively involved in a variety of committees and boards during his past terms on Council. In this new term of Council, Mr. Bowman will represent Council on the Mural Committee, the Essex B.I.A, and the Essex Festival Committee. A resident of the Town of Essex for over 30 years, Mr. Bowman, together with his wife Bev, have two children and one grandson.

Randy Voakes, Councillor, Ward 1 Randy Voakes, was a new comer to politics in the 2003 elections and was re-elected to represent ward 1 in the 2006 election. Employed by DaimlerChrysler, Mr. Voakes is also a member of the Canadian Auto Workers Union in the position of Health & Safety Trainer. Mr. Voakes personally trains OHL, NCAA and NHL stars, including players from the University of Bowling Green, the Windsor Spitfires, the Kitchener Rangers and the Dallas Stars at a local fitness centre. Prior to his election to Council, Mr. Voakes served as Co-Chair of the Essex Arena Revitalization and Expansion Committee and was a member of the "COPS" Committee, a committee dedicated to maintaining local police service in the Town of Essex. As a member of Council, Mr. Voakes will represent Council on the Town's Personnel Committee, Cemetery Committee and the Essex Arena Expansion Committee. Paul Innes, Councillor, Ward 3 Paul Innes is a resident of Ward 3 former Colchester South. He is married to Lynn and has two children Reid and Meghan. Paul has been involved in public service through volunteer work and holding elected office over the last 23 years. Paul holds two masters degrees and has been employed in the metals recycling industry and a manager for over 32 years. Paul has a passion for serving others and is very involved at St. Mary’s Walkerville in liturgy, study groups, pastoral visiting and youth work.

Ron Rogers, Councillor, Ward 3 The 2006 election has brought Mr. Ron Rogers back into local politics as one of two councillors for Ward 3. Prior to the amalgamation of the four communities that now comprise the Town of Essex Ron was elected to and served 3 terms as councillor for the former Colchester South Township (Ward 3). Ron sat on many committees during his previous council experience and looks forward to utilizing this past experience over the next 4 years. Ron is married to Carolyn, a school bus driver and volunteer at Harrow Senior School where their son Magnus attends classes. Ron works in the automotive stamping industry and over the past 28 years has held various management positions in both manufacturing and sales. Mr. Rogers believes that his previous council and extensive business experience will enable him to make the right decisions and choices for our community as we face our future challenges

Peter Timmins, Councillor, Ward 4 Peter Timmins, a 26-year veteran of local politics, was again acclaimed to represent Ward 4, Harrow in the 2003 Municipal Elections. Previously, Mr. Timmins served 2 years as Councillor and 16 years as Mayor for the former Town of Harrow. Mr. Timmins has represented the agricultural community and Ward 4 since amalgamation in 1999, as a farmer himself and an agricultural researcher for the research station in Harrow. Mr. Timmins is a member of the Knights of Columbus and coached minor hockey for 9 years. During his term in office, Mr. Timmins has served on County Council, the ELK Energy Board, the Parks & Recreation Committee, the Police Services Board and several other committees. Mr. Timmins and wife Theresa have 2 children and 4 grandchildren.
